About the show

The news moves quickly. Useful ideas do not expire so easily.

The Past Has Opinions brings unlikely minds into the same room to make current financial news easier to understand.

Each edition starts with a real, consequential story. We then choose three people whose lives and ideas reveal different forces inside that story: power, invention, trade, institutions, culture, risk, or human nature.

The conversation is an AI-assisted dramatization. It is not a historical recording, a genuine quotation, or an endorsement by any living person or estate. A human editor reviews the script, factual claims, sources, and final media before publication.

The aim is not to ask, “What would a famous person buy?” The aim is to use sharp disagreement as a tool for understanding what is at stake.
